Website Copy
Beauty brands need more than just photos to sell online. Especially if you’re in the premium beauty space. You need copy that creates an atmosphere and sets a mood. You want people to come to your website and get the same feeling they’d get at your pop-up shop if they were able to spritz a sample of perfume on their wrists, click open your beautiful lipstick tubes, or relish a sample of your best hand cream.
Email Marketing
Getting people to your site once is only the beginning. To create brand loyalty and get recurring sales, you need well-written email copy. From promotional sequences, to automated welcome, abandoned cart, and thank-you flows, I’ll help you build out a wealth of email content that keeps shoppers clicking and buying.
Content Strategy
From your beauty brand’s style guide to your press releases, you need a consistent voice in your copy. I help companies large and small establish cohesive brand content strategies, including owning SEO contend and editorial blog calendars.
If it goes in your cosmetics bag, I’ve probably written about it
From celebrity-owned white label luxury brands to farmer-created tallow products, I’ve covered the gamut of makeup and skincare copywriting, alongside other CPG and lifestyle work. Here’s a sample of the products I’ve written about for clients:
Dip powder manicure kits
Eye cream
Face cream
Lotion bar
Lipstick
Mascara
Setting mist
Contour palette
Multi-step skincare kit

FAQs for hiring a beauty copywriter
When it comes to your company, you can’t risk hiring a copywriter who’s not equipped to sell cosmetic products via copy. Here are a few things to look out for:
Has this copywriter worked with beauty brands before?
Does this copywriter understand the principles of conversion copywriting?
Are this copywriter’s rates suspiciously low?
Does this copywriter include research in their process?
Does their turnaround time fit your schedule?
Are they promising unrealistic results for products not yet on the market?
If you feel good about a copywriter’s answers to these questions, they may be a great fit for your brand! Here are a few FAQs I receive somewhat regularly:
Should I hire someone who works exclusively in beauty?
You can hire a specialist, but you may find that copywriters who work exclusively with beauty, skincare, or haircare brands get stuck in a bit of an echo chamber, using the same language as every brand already on Ulta’s shelves. Copywriters who work across industries often have a broader lens and more diverse ideas for beauty brands.
How much do copywriters cost in 2024?
As always, there are tremendously wide ranges for copywriting services. Experienced copywriters generally charge more, as do those who incorporate research into their process, and do the copywriting themselves vs. outsourcing it to junior freelancers. Expect to pay $3k-$7k for website copy in 2024 if you’re hiring an experienced writer. Note that these prices may seem steep compared to agency prices which include both copy and design. Hiring an agency may save money, but your copy may be written by entry level writers. It’s important to have a clear grasp of your priorities so you can budget accordingly.
How quickly can a copywriter turn work around?
You’ll find copywriters who will charge a premium and deliver full websites in as little as 48 hours! Most take a few weeks from project discovery to revisions. And some copywriters book out months in advance. If you’re not willing to wait though, another copywriter would likely be available to jump in more quickly.
When should I book a copywriter for my beauty brand?
If you’re launching a new website, it’s smart to hire your copywriter before you hire your designer. You don’t want your website design and launch to be held up because you don’t have copy ready. Other times it’s smart to refresh your brand’s copy:
When you have new product line launches
When you’re trying to reach a new audience or customer group
When you shift your product pricing or market positioning
When you have a brand design refresh
When you’re not getting the sales you’d expect
